I HAVE just watched one of the worst performances (Southend 1-4) I can remember from a Torquay United team for quite a while.

Rene Howe and Aaron Downes were the only players who could probably holds their head high.

If we carry on with these lacklustre performances, we are going to end up in the lower half of the table.

Why are we not playing with any width or pace in the side when we have people with the ability to run at defences? Instead, we are sitting back, playing one man up front who works his socks off, but gets no help.

Surely at home we need two up front, with someone on the wing like Thompson, and really get at teams.

We let Southend come on to us and tear us to bits.

Please Mr Ling, we are playing like the away team at home. It's boring and frustrating to watch.

And another please – can you also play Nathan Craig in midfield and not out wide?

“Colli27, Mr Ling says other teams make us look poor. They don't really have to try very hard, we ARE poor!”

“The thing that gets me is after every defeat Lingy says the same old "they made us look poor etc" well surely that's yours and the coaches job to be aware of this and change it! Surely if a team makes you look poor for 90 minutes there's a big problem. Which brings me on nicely to the other point, if we are being overrun Lingy needs the resources to change it which he can't because he doesn't have a squad capable of doing it? We sold 3 key players for a combined fee of over 500,000 and we have had to rely on free players (admittedly Downes has been fantastic so i can't complain too much) but surely before the transfer window closed i thought we would of brought in an extra attacker. What happens if we lose Rene to a silly red card or injury? I don't think the fans deserve a mid table finish but sadly i think this will be the case.”

    “WELL,
    What's going on at Plainmoor?
The squad is without a doubt
a few short of League 1/ League 2 players
    & Ding-A-Ling continues to smile, & paper
over the cracks , never standing his ground
over his Playing Budget which is a joke, when
you consider he has brought in 0.6 of a million (£600,000)
A few of the money men at Torquay, could say,
"we built a new stand, we are going to improve our Training Facilities
, but people in the know would add the Bench was financed well before we sold
3 of our top players .
So an unknown "little old lady" has come in & bought Bodin, does that mean he
has to do her garden & shopping as well !”

    “I'd tend to agree.

I think that Martin Ling is doing a great job and he's no doubt trying to make us defensively tight, but I think at home we need to take some of the pressure of Rene Howe and try and put the opposition on the back foot.

Easy to say when you're just a punter on the side lines, but there you go.”
