Farmer Jason appeals to all

Friday, July 10, 2009, 09:02

WHEN internationally-acclaimed singer-songwriter Jason Ringenberg created his children's music character Farmer Jason in 2003, he had no idea it would reach such successful heights.

With a background in punk rock and country music, Jason created a CD for his daughters to listen to while he was out touring with Jason and The Scorchers in the mid 80s.

Since his family lived on a small farm in Tennessee, the songs were about farming and farm animals.

In 2003 he released A Day At The Farm With Farmer Jason 'just for fun' with tunes like The Tractor Goes Chug Chug Chug and A Guitar Pickin' Chicken.

The CD became an instant hit and Farmer Jason was soon drawing sell-out crowds doing children's concerts in venues across the US.

His new CD, Rockin' In The Forest With Farmer Jason, encourages children and adults to listen to the same music.

Jason said: "We definitely had this as one of our goals — that a children's CD could successfully entertain and educate children without making their parents want to blow up the stereo."

The album transports children to a musical forest where they learn about ecology, exercise and history through catchy songs.

Farmer Jason is performing at 4.15pm on Friday, July 17 at St Anne's Community Hall, Babbacombe Road, Babbacombe. Torquay. Doors open at 4pm and the show lasts for 45 minutes.

Tickets cost £5 for an adult and a child. Entry for extra children costs £1 and for extra adults, £2.

No unaccompanied children will be admitted.
