CYCLING: Paignton's Lee Mallen (Bikinmotion CC) produced a gutsy ride in gruelling conditions to finish as the sixth Senior rider in the latest round of the South West Cyclo Cross League in Plymouth's Central Park.
The course was technical enough, but atrocious weather left some sections of the track in such a state that all riders ended up pushing or carrying their machines.
Mallen was held up by an early crash involving several riders, but he steadily worked his way through the field.
Overall he was tenth in the one hour plus one lap race.
Bikinmotion debutant Peter Robinson could hardly have raced more testing conditions for his first Junior event, but he showed enough ability and determination to mark him as a future prospect.
