Knitters help prolong life for babies
Teignbridge Lib Dem MP Richard Younger-Ross will hand them over to the charity at his office in Queen Street, Newton Abbot on October 31.
The handover comes after he appealed to Teignbridge residents to get knitting for the charity's 'Knit One, Save One' campaign.
The hats are for vulnerable new born babies in countries around the world.
Mary Harber, from Save the Children, will accept the hats from Mr Younger-Ross and they will go towards the global campaign to get 10-million people to take action by 2010 for the millions of children who die each year before their fifth birthday.
Ms Harber said: "We are astonished at the wonderful support we have had from the public.
"It's such an imaginative idea the simple action of knitting a small hat can mean the difference between life and death."
Mr Younger-Ross added: "I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has knitted hats for this campaign. Through their efforts they are helping to save the lives of children throughout the world."
