Town councillor Allan Vizor, 63, was questioned in relation to an alleged sexual assault incident after a complaint was made to officers by another man.
Vizor was formally arrested under a section of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 after attending Torquay police station on Wednesday, October 8.
A police spokeswoman said he had answered his bail as required yesterday and had been re-bailed, pending further inquiries, until Thursday, January 15.
A MENTALLY ill missing mum on the run with her five daughters for the last six months could be hiding in South Devon.
Natalie Bracht, 35, who has Histrionic Personality Disorder according to Northumbria Police, fled her Sunderland home in May with her daughters, who are aged between five and 13.
She was last spotted in the moor town of Moretonhampstead.
And a High Court judge has made the decision to release Ms Bracht's children's names Indira, Naima, Elinour, Manjuh and Naomi so they can step up the search for the missing mum by releasing CCTV images captured in May at King's Cross Station in London, showing the children dressed in Arabic garb at the start of her flight.
It is understood a woman matching her description bought a bus ticket from Exeter to the market town in Dartmoor on Friday, June 27 arriving at 7.10pm.
THE jury in the case of a South Devon pensioner accused of sex offences against young children will retire to consider its verdicts today.
At Exeter Crown Court 68-year-old Robin Pitts has pleaded not guilty to four charges of sexual assault and two of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity in relation to a girl and has further denied three charges of sexual assault, one of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child in relation to a boy.
Pitts has told the jury he had no interest in sex and was absolutely astonished when police confronted him with the allegations.
The trial of Pitts, of Warren Road, Dawlish Warren, continues.
A MOTORCYCLIST alleged to have travelled at speeds of up to 142mph will be dealt with at the crown court.
Michael Robillard, 23, of Daison Cottages, Lymington Road, Torquay, made no plea to a charge of dangerous driving, when he appeared before magistrates at Newton Abbot.
He is also accused of not having insurance or a licence, and the bench decided the dangerous driving offence was so serious, it should be remitted to the higher court at Exeter. He was remanded on bail to appear at the Torquay court on January 13 for committal proceedings.
The offences are said to have occurred on September 8 on the A380 and the A381 through Bishopsteignton.
A THIEF stole a bag containing £40 in cash from a horse box at the Coombe Park Equestrian Centre at Littlehempston between midday and 4pm on Wednesday.
