A VIETNAMESE woman charged with growing 600 cannabis plants worth as much as £250,000 in a converted five-bedroom Kingsteignton house has appeared before Torquay magistrates.

Loan Nguyen, pictured at court, told the court through an interpreter that she could only remember the year and not the date of her birth, 1960.

She had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge and to another charge of illegally obtaining an electricity supply to power hydroponic equipment.

The court heard that the potential yield from the plants could be worth £250,000.

Nguyen was remanded in custody to appear by video link at Torquay magistrates on January 27.
