Top-flight coaching comes West

TWO World Cup-winning England Women's cricketers will coach at a three-day camp for aspiring young players at Exeter next month.

A top male professional – provided by the Professional Cricketers' Association – will also be on hand to offer their expertise and present prizes on the final day.

This MCC Spirit of Cricket Summer Camp is part of a collaboration between Marylebone Cricket Club and Chance to Shine, the Cricket Foundation's campaign to regenerate and encourage competitive cricket in state schools all over the country.

The MCC/Chance to Shine partnership communicates the Spirit of Cricket message of 'play hard, play fair, have fun' in schools throughout Devon.

This is achieved through lessons on the Spirit of Cricket in the classroom – with supporting film material – and intra-school competitions in the playground.

Ex-England, Hampshire and Essex all-rounder and now MCC's assistant secretary, John Stephenson, said: "This summer camp is a fantastic opportunity for kids in Exeter to have fun, play some competitive cricket and learn from some top MCC coaches and professionals players.

The MCC Spirit of Cricket summer camp will take place at Exeter Cricket Club between August 25 and 27 from 9.30am to 4pm. It costs just £20 per child for the three days. For more details visit www.chancetoshine.org.
