ANYONE with £2.5million to spare could become the king of their own castle after a rare, Grade II-listed, riverside property came on the market.

The Keep (pictured) was originally designed to complement the castles found at the mouth of the River Dart in Dartmouth.

The 1856 house on Mount Boone was built on land originally owned by the Seale family.

The Keep occupies a large and private site above Dartmouth.

Gardens over the years have been beautifully landscaped to create a tranquil setting with an abundance of colour, set behind ancient stone walls.

The property, which comes with its own parking facilities, offers flexible accommodation of about 6,800 sq ft.

Martin Lamb from Savills, which is marketing the property, said: "The Keep is an unusual historic property where the home really is a castle."

The Keep is being marketed jointly by Savills in Exeter and Marchand Petit in Dartmouth.
