POLICE have netted £30,000 of cocaine during a raid at an address in Paignton.

About one third of a kilo of the class A drug was seized at the house in Totnes Road.

A man from Liverpool has been arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply the drug.

Two other people, a 38-year-old man from Totnes Road and an 18-year-old woman from Queen Elizabeth Drive, have been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

Police confirmed they executed a warrant at an address under the Misuse of Drugs Act on Monday, September 17.

A quantity of cash between £5,000 and £10,000 was also seized.

The three suspects were arrested at the scene.

James Thompson, 33, who was living at Totnes Road but is from the Liverpool area, has been charged with the drug offences and appeared before magistrates in Torquay the next day.

No pleas were entered and the case was adjourned.

The two other people arrested have both been given police bail for conspiracy to supply heroin. Police are carrying out more enquiries.

Police appeal

POLICE are investigating an incident where a 74-year-old man was hospitalised after he fell and hit his head after being punched by a man.

The man was taken to Torbay Hospital early on Sunday after he and a younger man had an altercation outside the Brass Monkey, Hollands Road, Teignmouth.

It is believed the 74-year-old had been in the Brass Monkey singing on the karaoke before the incident.

Police confirmed they are investigating. Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
