Five in the running for Devon and Cornwall Police chief constable role

Interviews for the post of chief constable of Devon and Cornwall Police are to take place next week.

Five candidates have applied for the job which has been filled by Deputy Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer on a temporary basis since the departure of Stephen Otter last March.

None of the candidates, who are being interviewed on January 15, have been named although Mr Sawyer has expressed his interest in doing the job full-time in the past.

The appointment is subject to a confirmation hearing by the region's police and crime panel on February 8.
