TORBAY MP Adrian Sanders (pictured), something of a music aficionado himself, has called for musicians and small music venues in Torbay to enter Rock the House 2013.

The contest is Parliament's biggest competition which celebrates up-and-coming British artists and the live music venues which support them.

Applications will close on March 1.

The competition is open to solo artists, bands, under-19 solo artists, under-19 bands, and small live music venues.

The MP said: "Rock the House is a great opportunity for aspiring artists of any age looking to find a way into the industry. I am excited to listen to the tracks the people of Torbay can come up with, and hope to receive as many submissions as possible."

He will nominate his favourite from each category, after which a judging panel made up of international music industry experts will choose the finalists.

The finalists will compete in a live battle of the bands, and the winner of each category will then perform live on the balcony of the House of Commons on the evening of June 26.
