Two's company at top as St Anne's wipe out deficit

THERE are joint leaders in the Premier Division as Riley's A have been joined at the top of the table by St Anne's A.

Riley's A saw their one-point advantage evaporate as they lost the final two frames in their 4-2 win over Preston Cue A, who slipped to fourth place after their second defeat of the season.

Second-placed St Anne's A took advantage in closing the gap to the leaders as Alan Tunney and John Halliwell both had a break of 36, whilst Adrian Tocknell had a break of 47 and Jason Whittaker compiled breaks of 47 and 39, in their 5-1 win over ninth-placed Mid Devon Constitutional Club A, for whom Captain Craig Gayler won their only frame.

Defending champions Riley's Q's inconsistent form continued with a win! They moved up a place to third as Ed Armitage compiled a break of 50 in the fifth frame as they thrashed Preston Cue G 6-0.

Brian Milden compiled a break of 32 in the fourth frame of fifth-placed St Anne's E 3-3 draw with eighth-placed Upton Social A.

Darren Smith scored a break of 36, and Martin Makinen had a break of 30, as seventh-placed St Anne's Q beat Torquay Squash A 4-2.

Whilst bottom-of-the-table Dawlish Conservative A are still looking for their first win of the season, as they came from 2-0 down to earn a 3-3 draw with Brixham Conservative A, who moved up a place to tenth after the draw.

DIVISION ONE

RILEY's E had their lead at the top cut to six points as they battled back from 3-0 down to earn a 3-3 draw with fourth placed Preston Conservative A, whom Bradley Kenney had a break of 26 in the opening frame, whilst John Shelley compiled a break of 33 in the final frame as St Marychurch Conservative A moved up to second place as they beat ninth-placed St Anne's D 4-2.

Hookhills A slipped to third place as they lost the final two frames to draw 3-3 with eleventh placed Torquay Squash D, for whom Bob Harvey compiled a break of 29 in the third.

Teignmouth RBL A stayed in fifth place as they battled back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with bottom-of-the-table Preston Conservative C, for whom Justin Callard scored a 22 clearance in the second.

Brixham RBL B came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with seventh-placed Brixham Conservative C. Torquay Squash C moved up a place to eighth as they won the final three frames to beat tenth-placed Torre Conservative A 4-2.

DIVISION TWO

PRESTON Cue E lost their one-point advantage at the top despite beating Riley's Z 4-1, for whom John Nugent won their only frame on the black in the last frame. Riley's C moved level on points at the top as they overwhelmed Torwood Conservative A 5-0.

Mid Devon Constitutional Z maintained third place despite losing 3-2 to Kirkham Street A.

Con Clubber Paul Coish compiled a break of 22 in the opening frame, but saw his side let a 2-0 lead slip as they lost their fourth match of the season.

Dan Lewis compiled a 27 clearance in the final frame, to give fifth-placed Brixham British Royal Legion A their sixth win of the season. They beat Brixham Conservative B 3-2, who moved up to sixth place despite the defeat.

Palace Place B slipped a place to seventh as they suffered their sixth loss of the season, a 4-1 defeat to Torquay Squash B.

Torquay Squash E find themselves seven points adrift at the bottom of the table as they have been deducted five points and fined £10, as they failed to play their match with St Anne's C.

DIVISION THREE

PRESTON Cue W stretched their unbeaten run to 10 matches as they beat Hookhills B 3-2 to extend their lead at the top to seven points.

Brixham Conservative D moved up to second place as they beat bottom side Roundham B 3-2.

Dominic Whittwer compiled breaks of 22 and 24, as Preston Cue C maintained fourth spot, as they beat tenth placed Royal Torbay Yacht Club A 3-2.

Preston Cue H kept the pressure on the teams above as they battled to 3-2 win over seventh-placed Preston Cue D.

Teignmouth RBL B stayed in sixth place, but lost ground on the teams above as they were hammered 5-0 by Torwood Conservative B.

St Marychurch Conservative B moved up a place to eighth as they beat lowly Ellacombe Conservative C 3-2, who won the final two frames.
