Bovey on course for title after sixth win
It was the team's sixth straight win, and with two games to go and a 19-point lead over their rivals, they look a fair bet for the title, barring slip-ups.
Brixham batted first and scored a respectable 97 for four in their 20 overs, Jack Akery (29no) and opener Josh Newman (28) leading the way.
Ben Roberts took three for 20 in the Bovey cause.
Dom Whitlock top scored for Bovey with an unbeaten 30, which paved the way for victory in the 14th over for the loss of only two wickets. Bovey's destiny is firmly in their own hands, although Paignton will be waiting to capitalise if they fall at the final hurdle.
IN the Under-17 Cook division, Stoke Gabriel beat Harberton by 47 runs to close the gap on leaders Kingsbridge.
Stoke could yet get their hands on the title as they have two games in hand on the leaders, albeit that they are 42 points behind.
Stoke batted first, posting a score of 110 for eight, Fergus Barratt leading the way with 27 before being run out by Christian Buckner.
Buckner took three wickets for 13 runs in his four-over spell, but it wasn't enough to keep the visitors below a hundred.
Despite the loss of early wickets, at 56 for five, Harberton remained in the game until Matt Taylor took four wickets for five runs in 15 balls to wrap up the match in comprehensive style.
KINGSKERSWELL U11s finished their season on a high note by topping the table following a seven-wicket win over Dartington, and a loss to title contenders Paignton.
With Bovey, Torquay and Paignton all with games still to play, Kerswell's position at the top is destined to be short-lived but is nevertheless a reflection of just how well the side has done this season.
Dom Passmore took four wickets as Kerswell restricted Dartington to 65 for nine in their innings, Aaron Hammett chipping in with two middle-order wickets.
Kerswell then chased down the required target in just 12 overs, Charlie Mitchell leading by example with 24 not out.
Against Paignton, Harrison Yeates scored a creditable 22 but was unable to prevent his side being bowled out for 51 in 13 overs. Toby Codd (4-3) and Dan Wolf (2-2) were responsible for the damage.
Codd then completed a fine, all-round performance by scoring 25 not out to set his team up for victory for the loss of only three wickets and with three overs to spare.
Paignton, who will be hoping for a top-two finish, trail unbeaten Bovey Tracey by 13 points although the title race is far from over.
Elsewhere in the division, Torquay, who have lost only twice all season, beat Ipplepen by 10 wickets.
Neil Osborne took two wickets for Torquay as Ipplepen were kept to a modest 48 for seven in their 20 overs.
Ben Francis (18no) and James McMurray (11no) made no mistakes at the crease, wrapping up the win after just eight overs.
In the only other game, Barton beat Kingsbridge by 18 runs. Nathan Aiston contributed an unbeaten 25 to Barton's score of 86 for six whilst Luke Howling and Ben Taylor took two wickets apiece for Kingsbridge. Will Dorey then scored 25 not out and at 51 for three, the South Hams side were well on course to win. Barton had other ideas however, as the last seven wickets went for just 17 runs. Morgan Harford took three for 15 whilst good fielding resulted in three run outs.
