Double blow for boss Kingscote

A Duncan Smiley strike proved mere consolation for Upton in the end as they went down 3-1 at former North Devon League champions Braunton.
But Chamberlain's injury is likely to give manager Steve Kingscote more cause for concern after the summer signing collided with a barrier on the side of the pitch as he made a challenge for the ball – within the first half an hour of the match – and was taken to hospital by club secretary Phil Lloyd.
The ten other South Devon Premier Division clubs in cup action on Saturday endured mixed fortunes, with six joining Waldon in the next stage of the competition and a further four crashing out.
Both Newton Abbot Reserves and Brixham Villa made it through without even kicking a ball.
The former's Plymouth & West Devon Combination opponents Royal Mail disbanded so Newton were given a bye into the second round while North Devon League leaders Combe Martin were unable to raise a side against Villa.
Gareth Law hit a hat-trick as Kingsteignton Athletic made it through in convincing fashion with a 5-1 victory over Georgeham & Croyde.
A Matt Joy strike and an own goal also helped Kingsteignton on their way.
Chagford squandered a number of good opportunities against Devon & Exeter League side Beer Albion but still managed to come out on top with a 2-0 win at the Memorial Fields.
Despite completely dominating the first half, the home side only found the back of the net on one occasion.
And although Albion raised their game in the second period, Robbie Miller was presented with a golden chance to settle the tie from the spot on 55 minutes – after Christian Crowther-Smith was dragged down in the box – but his blasted penalty was well saved by the Beer keeper.
It wasn't until substitute Jonathan de Cruz bundled home three minutes from time that Chagford sealed the result.
Jake Elms grabbed a brace as Newton Spurs Reserves came from behind to beat North Devon League opponents Putford 4-2. Tom Johnson and Dave Hodgson added the others for Spurs.
Kingskerswell & Chelston followed up last week's thumping league win over Riviera Spurs with a 2-1 victory at Newtown.
First half strikes from Adam Findon and Freddie Smith ensured the away team took a comfortable lead into the interval and, despite a late goal for the hosts, Kingskerswell kept their nerve.
Riviera fared better in their tie with Bradworthy but it was still the same outcome for the Premier new-boys as they lost 2-0 on penalties.
Chris Graddon – whose dad sponsors the competition – was amongst the scorers as Plymouth & West Devon Combination side Mount Gould disposed of Brixham United 5-2.
Hele Rovers manager Jeff Bidder was left to rue his team's poor finishing as they went down 4-1 away to Heavitree Social United.
"We should have won but we didn't take our chances and then Heavitree hit us on the break – from the scoreline it looks like we were hammered but that certainly wasn't the case," he said.
Impressive centre-half Steve Russell had equalised for Rovers in the first half with a 25-yard strike but it proved in vain for the visitors.
Bidder revealed that 16-year-old striker Jack Noonan is likely to start their next match as he aims to add more conviction to his attack.
East Allington fought out a six-goal thriller with Plymouth & West Devon's Wessex Rangers in a match that went all the way to penalties – but they eventually missed out on a place in the next stage with a 4-3 spot kick defeat.
Ed Roberts, Jon Davis and James Ivatts had scored for Allington during a pulsating 120 minutes.
Of the 20 South Devon League teams in action in the Devon Senior Cup, only seven won through to the second round, while Watts Blake Bearne await their fate after their match at Combe Martin Reserves was abandoned after 84 minutes with the score locked at 2-2.
The most impressive victors were Ashburton, who trounced Winkleigh 9-0. On the scoresheet were Chris Little with four, Daniel Grute who hit a hat-trick, and Luke Chapple who helped himself to a brace.
Buckland Athletic Reserves took their early Division Two form into the cup as they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners in their clash with Westexe Rovers.
Matt Peterson grabbed two goals while Malcolm Douglas and Neil Edwards hit one apiece against the Devon & Exeter League team.
Harbertonford were the only other Division Two team to make it through to the second stage, beating Oakwood 2-1, but one of Stoke Gabriel Reserves and Kingsteignton Athletic Reserves have the chance to join them as they contest their first round clash next week.
Luke Brown grabbed a hat-trick as Staverton & Landscove came back from 2-1 down to edge out Tipton St John in a nine-goal thriller. John McClements and Vince Reeves were also on target for Staverton.
Despite storming to a 3-0 lead over Crescent, Ipplepen Athletic were made to hold on for a 4-3 victory as the Devon & Exeter League side almost forced extra-time.
Josh Bird notched two while Derek Bridgeman and Josh Stacey fired home one each for an Ipplepen side who were playing their first competitive match of the season.
Michael Lowther hit a hat-trick – one of which was the winner in extra-time – as Brixham Villa Reserves also came out on top in a goal-fest against Old Suttonians Reserves. Gavin Phillips also found the back of the net for Brixham.
In another exciting match, Dartmouth Reserves lost 4-2 on penalties after a 4-4 draw with Horrabridge Rangers.
It was a remarkable performance by Dave Vicary's boys, however, as they played the whole of extra time with ten men after Paul Pope was sent off towards the end of the 90 minutes.
And at one point, Dartmouth only had eight players on the pitch due to cramp.
Vicary himself proved quite the super sub as he bagged two of his side's goals while Neil and Ross Prettyjohns grabbed one apiece.
The scoreline wasn't as close for Division One leaders Abbotskerswell, though – they were unable to reproduce their excellent league form as they were hammered 7-1 by Lifton.
And Upton Athletic Reserves' miserable start to the season continued they went down 4-1 at home to Yelverton.
John Day netted for Upton in the second half with his team already losing 4-0.
While all the first round clashes were being contested, Galmpton United & Torbay Gents 3rds thumped Devon & Exeter League team Dawlish Town 8-1 in the second stage of the competition.
Stuart Smith notched three, Danny and Jason Rogers grabbed two apiece and Sam Rowsell scored the other for Galmpton.
In the Intermediate Cup, Paignton Villa Reserves and Kingsbridge & Kellaton pulled off extra-time shocks against higher division opponents – the former beating Watts Blake Bearne Reserves 4-3 and the latter overcoming Marldon 2-1.
Meanwhile, the only Premier Division fixture on Saturday saw Galmpton United & Torbay Gents Reserves record their first win of the new campaign with a 4-3 victory over Totnes & Dartington Reserves.
Joe Millyard with two, Andy Slough and Karl Dooley were on target for Galmpton while Totnes replied with a brace for George Mariner and a strike from Troy Abraham.
There was also just one Division One fixture contested as Paignton Villa beat Moretonhampstead by the odd goal in five. Colin Waller, James Shilcott and Peter Cox did the damage for Villa.
Elsewhere, Joe Kirby scored in vain as Dartmouth 3rds suffered a 3-1 reverse at the hands of Waldon Athletic Reserves in their Division Three match.
There were seven different names on the scoresheet as Teignmouth Reserves maintained their 100% start to the new campaign with an outstanding 8-0 win over Broadhempston United Reserves.
Craig Breslan bagged two while Tristan Dorey, Tim Fortune, Sean Kelly, Steven Procter, Steven Shrubb and Alan Stuckey also netted.
Watcombe Wanderers have a maximum of 12 points from four games in Division Five after thrashing Chudleigh Athletic Reserves 4-1.
Sean Finch led the way with two and Ryan Finch and Michael Fieldhouse also slotted home.
And Chagford Reserves got their first three points on the board with a comfortable 4-1 at Foxhole United Reserves – Rob Thorn, Dale Chadwick, Stuart Potter and Steve Brown scored for the visitors.
