Newton stretch lead at top

A SAM Beavis hat-trick led Channel Division 2B leaders Newton Abbot Ladies to a 4-1 away win over Honiton Hornets.

Newton, still unbeaten, are now seven points clear of Teignmouth 2nd XI at the top of the table.

Beavis seized on a blocked shot to open the scoring midway through the first half.

Honiton equalised with a deflected shot.

But Beavis fired Newton back in front, finishing off a cross from close range, just before the interval.

Still on top, Newton missed several chances until Beavis completed her hat-trick with a shot from the middle of the 'D'.

Then Vicky Neville added the fourth, touching in a cross to leave her side with a W9 D2 L0 record this season.
