Poor turnout for vital meeting

Richard Ferre chaired the meeting, and it was an opportunity for those who hadn't yet met the new general manager, Jac Bevan, to do so. The main item on the agenda was the current situation regarding the amalgamation of the six organisations.
The meeting was poorly attended for a meeting with such an important agenda item. Unity is probably the best way forward for angling organisations in the current financial climate.
After some discussion and questions from the floor, the vote was taken on the two options, which basically asked the membership if they would allow the board of the NFSA to take the decision to go-ahead with the meetings consent, or to reach the point where the decision to go into UNITY is reached, and then have an extraordinary general meeting to decide.
Put to the vote, counting individual, club and proxy votes, the votes for option one were 357, and for option two 188. This means the board of the NFSA will have the powers needed to take this important decision.
It was emphasised that the board will only take a positive decision if every part of the agreement is to the benefit of the membership.
