Quartet survive a scare
But they still did enough to beat Torquay United's Mick Allen, Robbie Murch, Dennis Ball and John Evans 21-15 at Isca.
"The right four won and they fully deserved it," said Torquay skip Evans. "They were more consistent than us and I thought Bryan Lee played very well. They certainly had us on toast."
Despite an excellent start on the neutral green, the Torbay rink saw their lead disappear as Evans fought back well to lead 15-14, only to then drop a four, followed by a three and a two.
Singleton followed on from his fine performance in the Denny Cup on Saturday and on one end was holding seven shots until Evans nipped in to draw with his last wood.
In the National Triples, United's Evans teamed up with sons Mark and David to beat promising youngsters Aaron Chalk and Ashley Sampson, who played under skip Roger Binmore from Honiton.
John won 18-14 and acknowledged a good display from the two Honiton teenagers under English Riviera Open regular Binmore.
"It's the first season we've played together, and the boys certainly didn't let themselves down," said Binmore.
