JOHN Tallamy was the half-century star of Chelston II's nine-wicket win at home to Dartington & Totnes III.

The visitors were bundled out for 119 as home skipper Sean Molyneux took 3-9 in 10.2 overs and Andy Godfrey helped himself to 3-22.

Then Tallamy hit his half century and Godfrey an unbeaten 32 as he and Stu Collier (19no) saw their side to the win.

Peter Shephard hit 62 and Tom Partridge struck 72 as Bovey Tracey III hit an imposing 269-7 at home to Paignton III.

Debutant Steve Preston, ex of Dawlish and more recently with South Devon, made 40 and Jack Simmonds 47. Paignton captain Mark Ashworth stuck to his task to take five for 114.

The total may have looked imposing, but Paignton made light work of it. Trevor Massey slashed 80 and Callum Parker 57, never mind a breezy 35 from Richard Poustie against his home-town club, to clinch a seven-wicket win.

THIRD-placed Bovey Tracey went down by six-wickets to Plympton and slip 29 points off the pace in the Premier 2nd XI.

Bovey were held to 176 for seven in their 50 overs – Simon Newton hitting a top score of 37 and sharing in a stand of 60 with Ben Elphick (29).

There were two wickets each for Dan Vince and Paul Elsey, but the real bowling hero was Tony Brown with one for 33 from 15 overs in the heat.

The chase wasn't a total formality as Plympton were 126 for four at one stage.

Ross Farrer (63no) and Richard Skinner (45no) batted through to win the game with 18 overs to spare.
