Whittaker breaks for 53 as leaders go 11 points clear

ST ANNE'S A's dominance continued as they opened up a 11-point lead at the top of the Premier Division, brushing aside Brixham Sea Anglers A 6-0 in a one-sided affair.

Jason Whittaker scored a break of 53 and Adrian Tocknell scored breaks of 40 and 31 for the runaway leaders.

Riley's A moved into second place as Mark Turner scored a break of 40, Andy Neck one of 31 and Andy Astin 27 as they came from behind to draw 3-3 with sixth-placed Mid-Devon Cons A.

Paignton Cons slipped a place to third as they had a free week.

Ben Francis scored a break of 28 in the frame as fourth placed Preston Cue A won the final two frames to beat tenth-placed Brixham Cons A 4-2.

Nick Hyde scored a break of 39 in the final frame as Upton Social Club A moved up five places to fifth having thrashed bottom side Torquay Squash A 6-0, for whom Doug Harris scored a break of 33 in the second frame.

John Luscombe scored breaks of 52, 42 and 34 and Andy Hill scored a break of 32 as seventh placed Dawlish Cons A came from behind to draw 3-3 with eighth placed Preston Cue F

PRESTON Cons B maintained their position at the top of Division One as Malcolm Coleman scored a break of 40 and Tom Holland one of 31 to win the final two frames in a draw with bottom side Preston Cue E.

Jason Mathews scored a break of 24, and Paul Goncalves potted a 27 clearance as second placed Central Cons C came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with 11-th placed Teignmouth RBL A.

Palace Place A stayed in third place as they came from 2-1 down to beat Riley's E 4-2.

Paignton Cons A stayed in fourth place, and moved within a point of the promotion places, as they beat Palace Place B 5-1, who slipped a place to eighth after the defeat.

Fifth-placed Torquay Squash C unbeaten run continued as they came from 2-1 down to beat ninth placed Potc A 4-2.

Torquay Deaf A stayed in sixth place as they came from behind to draw 3-3 with seventh placed St Anne's B.

BEN Pitts scored a break of 23 in the opening frame as Torquay Squash D extended their lead at the top In Division Two to two points as they beat sixth placed Upton Social Club B 4-2, for whom James Ashe scored a break of 40 in the final frame.

Second-placed Preston Cue G let slip a 3-1 lead as third-placed St Marychurch Cons C won the final two frames to draw 3-3.

Brixham RBL A stayed in fourth place as they came from behind to draw 3-3 with fifth-placed Roundham B.

Kirkham Street A moved up a place to seventh despite losing 4-2 to Teignmouth RBL B.

Preston Cue H slipped three places to ninth as they had a free week. At the bottom of the table, St Marychurch Cons B came from 2-1 down to beat Preston Cue C 4-2, who are now bottom.

BRIAN Milden beat Ray Little 4-1 in the Joe Davis Cup final played during the winter league's presentation night at Preston Conservative Club.

It was a hard-fought match which was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests.

PLAYERS are reminded that the Torbay RGB Snooker League annual meeting is being held at Central Conservative Club Monday, July 13 (7.45pm).

PRESENTATION Night for the Devon County will be held at Torquay Squash on Saturday, July 11 with the Bilby Cup final between Exeter and Plymouth played on the night.

Torbay players who have won trophies will be expected to collect them.

COMPETITION forms for the Les Jennings Doubles, Jubilee Cup Singles and Toothill Doubles Cup need to be returned ASAP with entry fees.
