FOUR people were treated for the effects of smoke and slight burns after a fire at a house in Torquay.

The blaze happened in Lichfield Avenue, Hele at 10.45pm last night.

Fire Control received reports of a bedroom on fire in a property in Lichfield Avenue, Hele, and sent two appliances.

They found a fire in a first floor flat and were using two sets of breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to fight it.

An ambulance was requested for a man suffering from smoke inhalation and slight burns.

The crews then used fans to ventilate the property.

In all, four people were treated by ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation and slight burns.

One girl was taken to hospital for further observation.
