for keeping off the endless beaches.
This dog bin has been overflowing for days and if Torbay has
decided not to do the business then dog walkers MUST take their filled poo bags
home. The picture clearly shows the outcome of spending cuts and given the
political rhetoric things will probably continue to deteriorate.
Now about that walk on the beach and the smell of the sea………………………….

“@spindleshanks
Very interesting comment about Bournemouth and Poole and the proactive action in buying up the Imax eyesore.
Torbay could have bought the Palm Court from the receivers for just a million four years ago and should have done so together with the compulsory purchase of the adjoining poorly maintained buildings. The end result would have been a much more valuable site for a larger development.
Meanwhile poor financial management Torbay have the council sitting on a cash pile of £50,000,000 losing us £2m a year.”

“Nicold - the problem is rife throughout the UK. Just think it is a bit rich for our council on one hand to employ staff to hand tickets out to people last week for allowing their dogs to foul the beach at Preston and the on the other hand not bother to empty the bins used by responsible dog owners. There is no excuse.
As I have said in my other post, perhaps larger dog poo bins are the answer and they are certainly sold by the same companies making the smaller ones we have.
The difference between Torbay and Bournemouth is that the latter really takes it tourism industry seriously. Hence it has spent £7.5 millions securing the IMAX building on the seafront so that it can be demolished. Why? Because it destroyed the views when built only 13 years ago. Let's hope that Torbay Council can learn from this mistake before it makes a similar one in Torquay? Take a look at http://tinyurl.com/99lozb9
In the meantime, perhaps Torbay Council can remember the state of our beaches in March last year when Bournemouth was obtaining huge amounts of free PR with its oversized deckchair filmed by BBC News on immaculate beaches that were being cleaned at 5.00am. What have we got planned this year to attract visitors?”

I suggest you Google 'litter in Bournemouth' from the Echo newspaper and see the result. Not pleasant!”

“We don't remember prestons sands like that. We just see the dog poop left by dog walkers and rubbish everywhere. Paignton is dead and the "Footfall" this summer will show it so who really cares.”

“Surely the answer is larger doggie do do bins in places where there's a higher demand? It would take the same time/number of visits to empty a small or large bin.”

“Granted the council should empty it more often. But what kind of person would see the bin full and still attempt to pile poo on top or throw the bag on the floor? That's more ignorant and lazy than any council in my opinion.”

“Cuts are made only at the sharp end.
No shortage though of apparently blinkered clipboard wielding managers as they cruise by in a multitude of little white vans.”

“Arrh the brochure and the reality. Two different sides of the same coin, it's just that one side landed flat in a pile of dog poo, broken glass and the remains of a methadone addicts stomach, and the other glows brightly and reflects the sun. The only other people who could live with such lies are politicians.”
