Four years in jail for drug dealer

POLICE have welcomed the conviction of a drug dealer who has been sentenced to four years in jail.

Wesley Scofield (pictured), 28, from Torwood Gardens Road, Torquay, was arrested after being stopped in his Ford Focus car by a police officer in Watcombe last year.

When his house was searched, police found 28g of cocaine, 11g of heroin, 267 diazepam tablets and £3,500 in cash.

Scofield was convicted on two counts of possession of class A drug with intent to supply, one count of possession of a class C drug with intent to supply and two counts of possessing criminal property after a trial at Exeter Crown Court.

He told the jury that another man had been in his house and left the drugs there.

After the hearing, arresting officer Joshua Marshall, neighbourhood beat manager for Ellacombe, said: "This is a fantastic result.

"The amount of drugs found could only have been intended for supply and I am pleased we stopped those drugs ending up on the streets."
